A Little Bit About Me...

Hello, I have been a teacher in central Florida for 6 years. I have always taught at the middle school leve, although my student teaching was done at the High school level. Prior to becoming a teacher I served 5 years in the U.S. Navy. I have also worked with Juinor Acheivement and the Boys and Girls club of America.

My comments on tutoring Political Science : One of the few classes I wish I could retake in college.

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together.

Learning Can be Fun!

I like to allow the student to read the material once and clarity any areas that need more explanation. Then I will allow them to answer questions from the material read and help them where needed to choose the correct answer and understand the reason for the answers. I like to reward a certain level of correct answers with points that can be redeemed for interesting small prizes. I also consider myself very patient and interested in the student having a strong foundation for future learning.

15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have been tutoring for over 15 years both in students homes or at public locations such as coffee shops or the public library. My education and experience are broad. I was educated at "Ivy League" level schools and purposefully educated myself in a large variety of the humanities, which in essence all tie together. Basic courses up through most High School material outside of the Humanities are not difficult. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is one that is easily relatable to the students. I teach bringing the real life to the classroom so it is applicable to other parts of their life, not just being able to comprehend the questions of a reading passage but successfully being able to apply what they have learned to life outside the classroom.
