A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.
I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids.

Due to the fact that I was born and raised in Germany and have since lived in various foreign countries, I have adopted sensitivity when it comes to culture and characters. As a teacher I learned to be very observant before implementing a specific teaching strategy. Not only does every child have a different character, but they are all brought up in different surroundings and family constellations. I have worn many hats and done many things that all apply to the classroom and teaching young people. I believe that education is the key to life and living. But a person has to believe they can do it first and I believe everyone can learn and should be given the opportunity
I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. I believe in teaching young people and the adults I have worked with to think critically fist. Then I work with them on being able to articulate and write their ideas down...subject matter follows naturally if they have the confidence and can just think for themselves not just spit back facts and what others want to hear. Each child learns in a different way. I enjoy finding what works for each child. In the current state of education, children often find themselves burdened with an exorbitant amount of work that seems endless and impossible to conquer, and parents often find their children stressed and frustrated by a lack of comprehension.
