In between obtaining my BA in political science and English from the University of Mississippi in 2009 and returning to school for chemical engineering I spent a year and a half working with student governments on college campuses as a political consultant for a public policy organization. I learned to love working with students through this experience, so when I returned to school it seemed natural to become an academic tutor. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a Masters degree in Accounting from Miami University, I began working full-time for a local certified public accounting firm. While working I continued studying and earned my license to practice public accounting in April, 2010 by passing all parts of the CPA exam.
During my time at Miami, I was employed by the University as a Supplemental Instructor (SI). As an SI, I provided regularly scheduled, out-of-class sessions in a beginning accounting class and realized that I had the ability to help others learn. I realized that all students can learn, but that some are not getting the individual attention that they require in the typical classroom setting.
