I am a recent graduate of the Master in Teaching program at The Evergreen State College. I am a certified teacher in Washington state, endorsed to teach reading, writing, math and science K-8. Through my studies and student teaching experiences, I have worked with primarily first through fifth graders. I always look for a child’s accomplishments rather than the weaknesses. I look for growth over time from where the child started rather than percentage ranking. I look at the whole child, their home life, their academic background, what interests and intrigue them, how involved they are in the learning process. I work with their strengths and weave them into their weaknesses. I provide positive feedback and acknowledge the work it takes to make the small steps that turn into big leaps. As a high school teacher, I facilitated the instruction of approximately 100 students in Chemistry in accordance with Massachusetts Learning Standards. Developed and implemented course curriculum for the Forensic Science course, including labs featuring gun shot residue testing, urinalysis, and DNA electrophoresis .
