I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I pay great attention to verifying that each student is following the lesson. My main teaching style is "I do, you do," meaning I show them how to do a problem, or spell a word, and then they show me how. I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. The purpose of my teaching is to allow every student to succeed. I will try any way possible to reach this goal for every child. Working in the sciences, I feel that inquiry learning is important and hands-on experience is essential. Each student has their own way of learning best and I try to find that learning style and use it whenever possible. I graduated from IUP with a degree in Biology Education. I am certified in Biology and Middle School Science. I taught for one semester at Central Bucks School District where I taught Academic Biology, Astronomy and Oceanography. I began my teaching experience at Ohio University where I was offered a position as an anatomy TA due to my success in the course. During this time I was required to make sure that 30+ students had a clear understanding of both lecture material and the lab material which included complete cat dissection. After I received my bachelors degree in science from Ohio University I went on to receive my Masters in Science from Chatham University in Pittsburgh PA.
