I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. In addition, after school hours were spent with two students taking AP Biology classes. Both students achieved a 4 or higher on their placement exams. My tutored students reported an increase in their ability to record class notes, study, and take tests. When I began teaching Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet skills to senior citizens at Brevard Community College, the directors were concerned that my students needed lots of breaks to go to the bathroom, etc. In actuality, none of my students ever leaves the room.
