Fun and creative teacher

I am a certified math teacher with a concentration in middle school math and algebra. I have been a teacher for nine years and I have been a private tutor for over ten years. I make learning fun and creative so that students can grasp the concept that they are needing help in. I expect high expectations from all my students. A Little Bit About Me...

I attended Middle Tennessee State University from spring 1993-fall 1997, graduating in Dec. 1997 (B.S. degree). My major is art educ., my minor is secondary educ. My teaching license was in art educ./K-12. I was a member of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the top 15% of my class. My gpa was 3.2 and I won two scholarships. I did my student teaching at the Lebanon High and at the Las Cassas Elementary Schools in fall 1997. I taught art at Mt. Juliet Elementary School, and taught private adult & children’s art classes at An Invitation to the Dance studio in Murfreesboro and at the Murfreesboro Art League. I have tutored several students (math, guitar, riding, reading, art, etc.)and worked mostly in the graphic and fine arts for my living.

I emphasize the learning of concepts and understanding to the extent that the student is able to teach them back to me as a validation to themselves that they have grasped the idea of the moment. Learning is progressive. Each student has his own point of understanding of a concept and all future concepts are built upon the previous one(s). Once the student understands that he knows more that he thought, the previously overwhelming challenge is disarmed by newfound confidence.
