My pre-medical school coursework allowed me to gain conceptual and hands-on understanding in the areas of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and biology. I have always loved working with children. My teaching style is friendly, and casual, but still quite demanding. I try to create a comfortable and fun tutoring environment, but within that environment I challenge my students to work past their difficulties to reach levels of achievement they may not have previously believed themselves capable of. To me, learning is best exemplified by an engaged and interested student asking informed and critical questions of the material assigned. I believe that students are more apt to achieve such education in a relaxed atmosphere. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with others and love to see the “light” come on when a student finally understands a concept.
