I began tutoring in high school, as a sophomore. I started tutoring freshmen, and continued throughout my high school career. I would also often lead study groups with friends. In college, I was never an official tutor. However, I would lead study groups with friends. I have a strong background in sociology, which was my undergraduate major. I minored in psychology as well. I am currently getting my masters' degrees in both community mental health counseling, and in school counseling, which has significantly added to my previous knowledge of the field of psychology. I have had a practicum and an internship experience as a school counselor, which required teaching lessons, so I do have some teaching background. It is a team effort! I believe one on one tutoring sessions is an effort between tutor and student to honor and respect each other by making the most of the time. Preparation is key! Being prepared to learn is holistic and involves the mind, body and spirit to be open to receive information and process it. I promise to bring all of the above to each of my students including a professional attitude. I love teaching and tutoring children and adults.
