I prefer working one on one with students and in group situations I utilize a collaborative learning approach. I taught freshman composition at Texas A&M Commerce and Paris Junior College. My primary focus in graduate school was literature. Much of my studies related to children's and adolescent literature. The study of composition and compositional theory made up a secondary focus of my studies. After graduating, I worked in the sales and management fields and assisted students in the community in writing speeches for competition and personal statements for college applications.

I find most children at young ages are visual learners, but I am easily adjustable to many teaching styles to fit the students needs. I have worked with children ages 5 and up for a few years now. I have 3 siblings all 8 years or more younger than me, and have had lots of experience with children in elementary school.
