Every job I've ever had has been one where I teach. I had a job 3 years teaching ballroom dance, 2 years I coached T-ball, and for 4 years I've tutored math. I just recently graduated and I can't see myself not helping someone learn and love math. Math isn't a subject that everyone loves but I believe that can change with the right teacher. I'm not a tutor that gets frustrated and just tells the answer. I'm also not a person who makes things difficult to understand. While attaining a BS in Mathematics at Penn State University, I was heavily involved in peer tutoring. For two semesters I spent 10-20 hours per week working one-on-one with students struggling or seeking a higher level of success in courses ranging from pre-algebra to calculus 2. I belief that conceptual understanding is the foundation of learning. Teaching kids to solve a specific problem that they can't do doesn't accomplish much, in my opinion.
