Throughout my career, from tutor to high school teacher to entrepreneur, I have learned how to effectively convey new material to students in many ways (based on Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences), to draw on students’ background knowledge and interest areas in order to teach new material, to be patient with students who do not “get it” on the first try, and to allow students to succeed and grow at their own pace. I guided first year law students as to which supplemental books to buy, how to decipher a court's ruling and how to respond to a professor's question. I tutored the high school students in Algebra and Literature, all of which I took as an Advanced Placement student, along with studying skills. Further, during the past year I was a high school math tutor with a Kentucky tutoring company in which I tutored mostly Algebra.
