I received two years of paramedic training at Catawba Valley Community College. I have taught nurses, paramedics and recreational therapists anatomy and physiology for 5 years. I also tutored nursing students in pathophysiology. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects. I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us. I would also focus on teaching proper study habits so the individuals can apply them and possibly not need a tutor in the future.
