World History is one of my top subjects! I have tutored World History - Regents Global I, Regents Global II, review for the Global Regents, AP World I, AP World II, review for the AP World exam, and AP European for three years. Some of my students received help for half a year, others only before their mid-terms and cumulative exams. A few students just needed help to ensure an AP score of 5, whereas other students were failing and needed to overhaul their skills and approach. The failing students all went on to pass the Regents by an average of 10 points. Most of my students have been solid B students in the course who were hoping to raise their class grades and achieve a high Regents score and/or score of 4 on the AP.

This is my fourth year tutoring middle and high school students in History and Government. I also have professional classroom teaching experience and volunteer elementary school teaching experience. My students, primarily Global History, World History and European History students, have raised their class grades, passed the Regents exam by many points and earned high scores on the AP. I specialize in both content acquisition and essay writing skills. Some students have worked with me for half a year or more, others for a month or two before cumulative exams.
Students being tutored one-on-one deserve lessons customized to their learning style. My sessions often incorporate some writing and topic discussion along with activities tailored to the student's interests, skill development needs and preferences.

Believe in yourself, and you are half-way there!

My teaching style depends on the student. I am comfortable with trying different study methods in order to figure out why my student is having trouble with a particular subject.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. I try to figure out what works best for every individual and help them focus on their strength and improve their weaknesses.

please feel free to write me so i can help kids learn.

I am only 19 and i graduated class of 2011. I've had a lot of help when i was in school so i know it can be stressful and tough but i found it a lot easier when i got help from people. Kids may be shy or maybe they just find the work is to hard and there scared to get help but i'm easy and outgoing i don't force kids to do there work. It takes time for them to understand how to work things out how to talk to teachers.
I have plenty that i've been tought so maybe using some of them could help the students understand better.

My comments on tutoring World History : I have a Masters in History, and my focus was on World History during my teaching training.

I have a strong passion for working with kids and helping them succeed and progress academically. I stride on giving my students a sense of confidence in and out of the classroom. I have worked with kids out of the classroom as a camp counselor, as well as a home tutor. I worked at a camp for kids ages 5-12 with hearing disabilities, where I created interactive fun learning activities. My philosophy on teaching history is that students learn and absorb the information more when they are taught not just what happened, but why it happened. I find that students don't hold onto information when they are taught to memorize facts. In my experience students are able to perform better when they know the history behind those facts, and how to expand on them . My passion for history allows me to make learning fun for the students. I have experience working in the classroom as a student teach ... read more

As a college graduate, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have a bachelor degree in Management and an MBA in Finance, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and presentations to corporate CEO's. As a member of corporate America I have seen how lack of math skills can hinder someone's career.

I would have to say that my teaching style is flexibility. I believe that it is necessary to gauge your students as a group and individually before deciding on which teaching methods would be most effective. I believe that naturalistic teaching is important. I also believe in a form of discrete trial training. It takes some of the basics from Discrete Trial and adapts them to fit the needs of the students that are struggling with certain subjects. Research has proven that all students learn differently and lessons cannot be taught primarily through auditory learning. A teacher especially one in the younger grades must engage in auditory, visual, tactile, kinestics and other learning methods.

I have always enjoyed teaching. It all began when I was really young and I would force my friends to play the students while I played the teacher. I cannot deny the fact that one of the reasons I love to teach is actually quite selfish. I definitely feel a great sense of satisfaction when a student completes a task to the best of their abilities, especially when I have helped them reached that goal. I like to be creative and use humor as my guide in teaching. I feel that comfort is most important in a learning environment and with my personality and my skills I can create such a place for your child. With everything that I have learned and everything that I have yet to learn, I think I can help your child meet his/her potential.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is based around differentiating instruction to meet student's individual learning style. I enjoy teaching and once I am invovled with a student I dedicate myself to learning which, teaching, studying and learning strategies are best for each individual student. I am also a believer that a tutor/teacher need to constantly research to keep up with strategies and new scientific findings thst can be introduced into lesson plans and tutoring sessions. A teacher should be dedicated and knowledgeable and should teach with a caring touch and unbiased opinions. I strive to help students during these formidable years of adolescent growth so that they can learn how to learn and carry it into a successful academic career.
