Having taught high school in both affluent and underprivileged areas I strive to make sure that every student has a positive learning experience. My degree is a BS in Communication/Business with a minor in education. Language has always been my first love and I continue to take classes related to this field. The past few years I have worked in sales but I continue to tutor.
My philosophy has always been, "make it interesting and they will learn." However, what is interesting to you and I may not be interesting to the next person. Teaching has been my life. All children learn in different ways and there are many ways of teaching the same concept to get the student to understand. Some students have a learning barrier due to their lack of confidence in a given subject, so I believe a part of a tutors job is to build the confidence of a student, allowing them to believe they are able to do whatever they put their mind to. Then I work with them on being able to articulate and write their ideas down...subject matter follows naturally if they have the confidence and can just think for themselves not just spit back facts and what others want to hear. Teaching is truly a passion for me. I love working with students of all ages. I believe that all students have it in them to succeed academically.
