A Little Bit About Me...

I generally give an assessment to find out about individual student needs. When working with younger students, I usually plan a series of activities, and learning games to help reinforce learning. I feel that it is important to develop goals, and would work with classroom teachers, if possible, to find out more about each student. I am able to tutor math, reading, writing, and other subjects. I enjoy helping students, taking time to develop a good working relationship, in which students feel comfortable. yet challenged.
I worked as a teacher's assistant for several years in public schools in Illinois, assisting in K-5 classrooms. I enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding. I believe that all children can learn and it is the teacher's role to find the learning style of his or her students and to plan lessons and activities to meet their needs. Children want to be successful in school and with my patience and dedication I strive to help each student find success.
I earned my degrees in education from Ball State University. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement, M.A.E. degree, and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education with minors in the following: Learning Disabilities, Mildly Mentally Handicapped, Seriously Emotionally Handicapped. I have taught at the elementary level in both general education classes and special education classes and at the high school level in special education classes.
