I began tutoring high school and middle school students when I was a college student and high school soccer coach. Upon completion of my degrees and being awarded my teaching certification I began teaching in a high school math classroom. During my eight years in the classroom I taught all levels of math from Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus. The past two years I have not been in the classroom but have continued with tutoring, mostly high school and middle school students, but occasionally elementary and college students as well.

I benefited from the liberal arts education I received from the University of Puget Sound, which offered a diverse selection of classes and an exploratory environment in which to pursue my studies. For two years, I studied Chemistry and Biology while also taking classes in the Humanities. I eventually majored in International Political Economy and obtained minors in Spanish and Latin American Studies. During my undergraduate years, I studied in Oaxaca, Mexico and received a grant for summer research.
