A Little Bit About Me...

My background includes an undergraduate degree in History and International Studies as well as a Master's degree in Education. With this background, I have taught US History, World History, and Government on all levels from college prep to AP. In addition, I have been involved in an after school program for low achievers designed to improve classroom performance and prevent dropouts. My experience teaching AP World History has given me a strong background in teaching and developing verbal and written skills.

While I have six years of classroom teaching experience, I've spent the 20 years since my MA in Counseling as a teacher and trainer for a variety of nonprofits. After returning to college to get my teaching certificate I taught 5th grade for one year. I then taught at a high school in Salinas, California for four years. As an elementary teacher I taught all subjects except science. I taught various history and social studies classes to the high school students including World History, honors U.S. History, Psychology and Current Events. I left teaching in 1992 to attend law school but have volunteered as a mentor on several occasions which has allowed me the opportunity to tutor children in both elementary and middle school.
