A Little Bit About Me...

I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I have spent five years tutoring and 17 teaching, including 12 years of summer school. The best thing about teaching and tutoring science is that it easily transfers to all of the other disciplines. My experiences and my insatiable appetite for learning have enabled me to make significant connections across the disciplines and to keep on learning!

Along with 7 other students, I was directly hired out of college to teach 7th grade English. Along with my 4 years of Latin experience, it increased my abilities in the grammatical aspect of the English language. I also tutored college students while I was attending in first yr Latin and math. I took 4 yrs of French in high school, graduated Shenendehowa in 1974. I enjoy working with kids in small groups or one on one. I am a mother of 11 children, the youngest is now 7. I also believe I could assist a first year algebra student or younger.
I love and respect all children and try to meet them where they are. I am very perceptive at times and don't give up easy. If one thing doesn't work, I'd try another. I believe in good education that develops the person, not just prepare them to contribute to society and to make a living.
