Believe in yourself, and you are half-way there!

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. I try to figure out what works best for every individual and help them focus on their strength and improve their weaknesses.
My teaching style depends on the student. I am comfortable with trying different study methods in order to figure out why my student is having trouble with a particular subject.

I earned my B.A. from Tulane University magna cum laude in classical languages and philosophy. I received Tulane's oldest prize, the Judah Touro Medal, for excellence in the ancient languages and philosophy. The University of Chicago awarded me a full-tuition fellowship to its Master's program with a concentration in classical languages and philosophy. Having completed the program I am now a doctoral candidate, though on leave, in a dual PhD program (classics and philosophy) at Cornell University. I've also done coursework in Latin, Greek, philosophy, chemistry, physics, biology, psychology, mathematics, and others at Columbia University, New York University, Syracuse University, C.W. Bio Chemistry is one of my top subjects! Practical experience in molecular biochemistry in graduate lab.

I believe that stimulating conversation and allowing people to arrive at answers on their own and through experience is the best way to form lasting connections.
I took a variety of Biology classes and Labs at WPI mostly focused on Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. I recently finished my PH.D. where I studied control of viral gene expression. This work encompassed a variety of biological disciplines including virology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and molecular genetics, all of which I am quite experienced in. I also have experience teaching in a seminar format as well as in small groups. As a senior graduate student I was responsible for leading discussions prior to invited speaker seminars.
