A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping others and thereby learning about myself in the process. I believe my teaching style revolves around communication, compassion, and finding the best way for the student to grasp the lesson or idea presented. I feel that everyone has their own way of comprehension and the challenge is for me to discover it. I have taught primarily college and university level students ages 18+. I have tutored Math, English, Wildlife Biology, and Cell Biology. I never claim to have all the answers, only many ways of finding them.
My professional background is primarily in marine mammal behavioral biology. After receiving my teaching credential from Biola University, I eagerly accepted a permanent substitute position at Mission Hills Chrisitian School. The following year, I was asked to teach science along with several other subjects in the junior high school. I thoroughly enjoyed this position for three years until the birth of our son. During my years teaching junior high, I had the pleasure of tutoring several students in math, reading, and study skills. I have been blessed with the honor of homeschooling my two boys for the past six years. My older son has dyslexia, and I began tutoring him with the Barton reading and spelling system this year. I have also taught history classes at our local homeschool co-op for both junior high and high school.
