My comments on tutoring Algebra : I consistently made mostly "A" averages in Algebra I, and scored well in this subject throughout K-12, as well as college.

I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.
I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.

35 years of Engineering Experience. Graduate Engineer with Math beyond Calculus lll; however, flunked my 9th grade algebra class. I didn't get it. I have taught both my children Algebra l in only five hours before taking the class, and they both got "A's". I'm not a teacher, but just a parent who didn't get Algebra l, but understand why I didn't get it, and now know how to teach kids how to simply get it. This method also helped my children get "A's" in advanced math classes, understanding how to learn math.

During my four years at East TN State University (ETSU), I tutored college students in General and Organic Chemistry, and multiple Psychology courses. I like to accommodate to a child's personality and likes to help them to learn through distinct processes. My passion is teaching mathematics. After a single year of retirement I missed teaching so much that I now either teach or tutor at three locations. In the classroom I have a casual, informal style that is more like a conversation with my students than a formal lecture.
