My comments on tutoring Microsoft Excel : I have been working with Excel for years.

I graduated High School in three years and have been employed ever since. My first job was at Newark Int'l Airport in the computer room as a data entry & computer operator for a small airline service. I have continually moved up with each employer. All of my knowledge comes from hands on, on the job education. I am skilled in all facets of computer from data entry to user documentation and training. I enjoy teaching and was a trainer for almost 5 years on Database applications for Sales, Marketing & Customer Service users. I was responsible for the USA, Canada, England & France.
I prefer hands on training. I typically will create a user guide, and have the trainee follow along so that I can make sure all aspects of the program are covered

I Want You to Believe in You!

I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.
I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. I have a somewhat relaxed teaching style that does not compromise the distinction or respect between student and teacher. Many students have told me that my teaching style is refreshing and they feel comfortable in class.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a discussion based teacher. I prefer to engage the students higher level thinking with a questioning approach. I do not think that lecture or rote memorization are proper ways to educate a child. I believe that teachers affect a students learning not just through the subject but also through the real world examples that should be the core of all learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to accommodate to a child's personality and likes to help them to learn through distinct processes. When given the opportunity in the correct manner, children can learn most of what is put in front of them. By using example catered specifically to certain children, they are able to connect to the tutor as well as the subject. As a tutor, I am kind, laid-back and patient. I have a BS in Cybernetics Engineering. As an engineer, my knowledge of math and physics is high. As a student I solved so many operations involving calculus that I memorized the formulas and used them as fast as the multiplication tables. I am a native Spanish speaker. I was trained as a language teacher by Berlitz, one of the best language centers in the world. I have a certificate in Drama. I worked for a private elementary school as a drama teacher for 2 years.

I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. I believe in teaching young people and the adults I have worked with to think critically fist. Then I work with them on being able to articulate and write their ideas down...subject matter follows naturally if they have the confidence and can just think for themselves not just spit back facts and what others want to hear. I would travel and relocate for a job.
