More About This Tutor...

I believe that all children have the potential to learn and am a strong advocate of customized teaching. I am so drawn to the mathematics and sciences because I learn from working through problems and finding methods to solve them. When I tutor I tend to emphasize to the student to find a study method that works for them and adapt it to whatever they need to learn. I try to suggest to the student options for solving a problem and letting them discover the way they understand the best.
As a student throughout high school and college I have enjoyed learning and often joke with my friends that I would go to school forever if I could. I have earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry at a very academic and research oriented school. I am currently continuing my education through an online Master's of Science in Forensic Toxicology program with the University of Florida. I ... read more

More About This Tutor...

My favorite part about teaching is the moment that something "clicks" within a child's mind. I am a problem solver naturally so I try to lead children down a path of discovery instead of just teaching the answer. I believe this helps children gain an understanding of how things work or why they are a certain way so that they are able to apply these same processes to other problems.
I have earned two bachelor degrees, BS in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business and BA in Spanish. I have 10 years of professional experience involving customer service, Spanish translation, tutoring, and training. As an ex-patriate, I was afforded the opportunity to learn Spanish fluently and have witnessed first hand its importance in business and life today. I also have elementary age children that I assist in the everyday learning processes.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very practical and utilize the lessons from the chapters done to develop and work through problem solving. I am a fundamental educator and believe that the student should become thoroughly familarized with the lessons learnt. The students should have a stepwise introduction to the lesson plans. By this, it is easier to understand the definitions(e.g atoms, molecules, isotopes, hydrogenation, and valency) before they can mentally construct nomenclatures and understand reactions and stoichiometry.
I have worked as a chemist for 20 years now and taught Physics and Chemistry in high school. I taught grades eight through twelve. I currently work for Coty Labs. in Rocky Point as a senior chemist. In College, I was an exceptional science student that my Organic Chemistry professor asked me to tutor my classmates during lunch breaks for exchange of a job recommendation. I am very co ... read more

I like to work through each type of problem step by step creating a blue print of what the student should be doing to solve each type of problem. I then repeat this with another problem of the same type. I like to go through every type of problem like this while they write the steps of how to do the problem down and then try to solve each problem step by step. I like to emphasize that they write neatly so they can see clearly what they are doing and what they have done so they can quickly go back through the problem and check for mistakes.
I have recently graduated from UNCW with a BS degree in chemistry. I have taken mainly math and science classes for the past three years. I have participated in many study groups and helped many other students who were in math and science classes by tutoring them.
