I am using the Alfred adult course for adults and Schaum Making Music Method along with Bastien Piano Basics for the children.
After 8 years teaching elementary music in the Southern York School District I taught piano, organ, and flute lessons from my home studio. I was choir director and organist at Church of the Cross, Carlisle. Also, it was my responsibility to plan music for the services. I planned a variety of music for worship, organ pieces, piano pieces, or organ/piano duets.

My comments on tutoring Piano : The piano is an instrument where your understanding and proficiency with basic techniques can be continually built upon. Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler a "functioning human being" until the child can speak. This is so inaccurate! I taught one of my daughters to read at age four. My teaching style is to engage the student on a personal level through cheerful conversation and sharing of interests, then to assess learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Children perform well when expectations are complimentary to them, and when they are given the tools and nurture to accomplish their dreams.

Private piano and organ teacher from 1976 to 1988. Taught lessons at Ralon Music Store and home studio. Age range of students was from 7 year old to adults. Had each student participate in two annual recitals and the National Guild of Piano Teachers Guild annually. Each student took a 30 minute private lesson weekly and performed at monthly workshops to enhance theory and performance skills. I have taken private lessons both classical and jazz improvisation. I was a church organist and choir pianist from 1981 to 2001.
