More About This Tutor...

My philosophy is that education should be as individualized as possible because people do not learn in the same manner. For instance, some people are visual learners while others, like myself, are auditory learners. I strongly believe that educators should expose their students to as many fields and ideas as possible. For instance, when I am teaching, I prefer to instruct students on different topics- biology, culture and rules of the English language are particular favorites of mine. I also like to give ideas and explanations that are different than my own (when teaching abstract concepts, of course) so that students can formulate their own opinions.

I am the type of teacher who dedicates herself to learning how my students learn. I teach to my student’s interests and learning styles. As a dedicated teacher I also pride myself into finding different ways to approach my instructions. This includes something simple as using white boards, manipulatives and different types of technology to approach a subject. I give my students clear expectations of student work and participation in every lesson I present. I am not opposed to approaching my lessons differently if the student did not understand the lesson the first time around. Above all else, I know that students who have not built a good rapport with their teacher will not learn from that teacher.
