My comments on tutoring Algebra : I was a math major at Cornell and have been tutoring algebra i for five years.

I am patient and supportive, but persistent. Each student's mind works differently, and I work tirelessly to find the best way to present material to every child or adult. I have Algebra One and the Principles of Physics. In a small private school, there were two students who were failing at the end of the semester. With the permission of the headmaster and the parents, I gave each of them a grade of "Incomplete" and then tutored them through the Summer until they could each pass the final exam. They both earned B- grades and, more importantly, succeeded in Algebra Two.
