A Little Bit About Me...

I am a whole brain power teacher. Most of my experience is with exceptional children from a range intelligence. Intelligence is relative, and it is the teacher's job to highlight a student's strengths.
I am preparing to graduate in the spring of 2011 from Mississippi State University with a special education degree. I have studies pedagody and methods for two years with a range of experiences in all types of classrooms. I will be a highly qualified teacher in the spring. I have been in a classroom since I was conceived. My parents are high school science teachers. I have studied a variety of subjects, and I have a deep content understanding of math and science. I have tutored college students in anatomy and physiology and college algebra.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Communication major at College of Charleston, the majority of my undergraduate assessment was research papers, essays, and writing exams. My grammar and writing skills have been far above average throughout my academic career. During the last three years since graduation, I have spent fifteen months teaching English as a Second Language at Chinese secondary schools. I also taught private lessons to Korean International students. As an English teacher, I represented my language every day and taught my students with accuracy and enthusiasm.
I love working with older children. By the time students have reached secondary school, most are developing confidence in their abilities and discovering their unique talents. I substituted after graduation and realized I loved teaching. In college I was asked to tutor for my instructors. My classmates came over to my house to study. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 99'. I taught 2nd and 5th grade before going to Falkner to teach Special Ed. in grades 9-12. I helped prepare students for state tests. I co-taught in Eng. and Alg. I also taught MS Studies, W.Geog., U.S. History, Drama, Eng. II, U.S. History, Journalism, Tutorial and ACT prep also. I have experience in math and science as well. My students did projects such as: Greek masks, maps of MS, project boards on MS Indians and World Religions. I can relate to children of different ages; I have three children ages 5,9,and 18.
