I love seeing people understand something once I explain it to them in a way that they can understand it. I also love working with kids and teenagers because I believe that if we have a positive influence on young people they will grow up to be the leaders that our nation needs. I have always had an inclination to teach. To me, there is something very exciting about conveying understanding of a concept to another person. I think I have a particular ability for identifying precisely what aspect of a problem a student does not understand and then elucidating that point. I think much instructional time is spent inefficiently in explaining what a student already understands and not explaining what he or she does not understand. This is why I believe engaging the student in a conversation is vital, helping them identify their difficulties so that I can address them specifically. I attended Columbia University in New York City, graduating in three years with my BA in English.
