I like to work with children of all types. I think that anybody has the capability to learn if they really want to. Everybody learns in a different way and I am willing to work with them any way I can. I am very patient, laid back, and willing to try new ways to help children accomplish their goals. A teacher is their to help them learn and lift their spirits in times of frustration and show them a different approach to the problem. Encouraging the child can make all the difference in the world sometimes when they are about to give up.
I am a graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and about to graduate in May 2011 with another Bachelor degree in Recreational Therapy. Teaching and tutoring have been my life's work. Though the majority of my experience is at the college level, I love working with students of all ages. All children have the ability to learn; some need more help than others finding that one pedagogical method that really makes everything "click" for them. I am patient, am able to infuse an element of fun into my tutorials and classes, considerate, and dedicated to my students' success. Teachers and tutors have always had a postive impact in my life, and I look to share that same experience with my students. My undergraduate degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan was a major in Home Economics Education and a minor in Spanish. Ten years later I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education at the same University. I have a total of ten years experience on the elementary, junior high and high school levels. My experience was mostly in private church schools teaching from single grades, all subjects, to multi-grades, all subjects. I taught Spanish for one year on the high school level and am very qualified to teach Spanish since I am fluent in the language. I also homeschooled my two children through the 5th and 6th grades.
