From my experience, I know that every student has the ability to learn. I believe that each student is an individual and therefore each student has a unique approach to learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I pay great attention to verifying that each student is following the lesson. My main teaching style is "I do, you do," meaning I show them how to do a problem, or spell a word, and then they show me how. I like to work with the parent and child on any goals they have for the year, while updating the parent and child on progress, problems, and behavior.

I graduated from IUP with a degree in Biology Education. I am certified in Biology and Middle School Science. I taught for one semester at Central Bucks School District where I taught Academic Biology, Astronomy and Oceanography. I then taught two years at Gateway School District where I taught 8th grade physical science. I now have a permanent position at Yough School District where I teach 7th grade Life Science. I am also currently pursuing my Masters in Education.
The purpose of my teaching is to allow every student to succeed. I will try any way possible to reach this goal for every child. Working in the sciences, I feel that inquiry learning is important and hands-on experience is essential. My teaching style is not memorization but rather practice. The best method that I found for teaching math based subjects is step by step work throughs for each problem. By taking the time to step through each math problem, the student learns the theory (Algebra, geometry, etc) as well as the solution. Just solving the problem doesn't teach them as much as understanding HOW to get the solution
I have taught mathematics, statistics and technical math for 15 years. Primarily my audience has been working adults seeking to take a certification examination. In my training as a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and Quality Engineer, I use many mathematical models, including algebra, geometry, statistics, and engineering modeling.

I am a retired chemist with 42 years of experience in industry. I hold a BS degree with a Chemistry major, and completed some graduate courses in Chemistry. During my career, I supervised laboratory technicians and taught them laboratory procedures and equipment operation. I developed excellent grammatical skills in writing laboratory and progress reports, and delivering management presentations. As a Safety Coordinator, I presented monthly programs on laboratory safety. As a graduate of a sound Liberal Arts College, I've learned that the greatest asset I took away with me was the art of communication. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Creative Writing and Spanish.
