A Little Bit About Me...

At Adult Basic and Literature Education, I serve as a math and grammar tutor in the GED and ESOL programs. Also, I assist the students on how to obtain basic computer techniques so that they can operate the computer. I am able to communicate with Spanish-speaking students and read French. As for my technical, web designing, and software knowledge, I have a background in computer troubleshooting, Adobe Photoshop, HMTL, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etcetera. For five years, I was a substitute teacher for grades K-5 in English as a Second Language, Special Education and Art classes. I used my communication skills to converse with and to translate Spanish/English language. I have a great joy in teaching student new skills and information and love to see how they catch on, in other words, have that light bulb moment.

Set Realistic Goals and Rewards Create realistic, individual goals for all of your students. It's nice to have a classroom goal so students feel like they are working together, encouraging one another. However, it's more important to give each student an attainable goal that's personalized for their educational needs, such as completing homework assignments on time or checking over an assignment before they turn it in. After graduating High School early (Jan 2001) I did two semester at the University of Akron majoring in Political Science. After the events of 9/11 I enlisted in the US Navy (Jan 2002). I was trained at the prestigious Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey CA, with follow up training in Texas. I then spent the next years working as an Arabic linguist and Intelligence Analyst at a Joint Service Operation. I specialized in Iraqi and Syrian Dialects. By 2006 I was a shift NCOIC (Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, basically a supervisor). I left the service in 2008 with an honorable discharge and started working for the department of the army as a civilian but filling the same roll.
