I have worked with various needy students who have been classified as learning disabled, or those who know they are in need for assistance. My experiences vary, as I worked with older children in filling out applications for jobs and to prepare for jobs. I also, have worked with many adults on writing papers for college preparation or with helping their children on writing tasks. I have worked with young children on phonics and reading readiness. My teaching style utilizes any and all manipulatives necessary to engage a student. I also review student data to determine what learning gaps exist. I have eighteen years of experience: ten at the missle school level, and eight at the high school level. My experience includes teaching "at-risk" students from a wide variety of backgrounds and situations. I have taught sheltered, regular Pre-AP and AP. In addition, I serve as the Social Studies Department Chair. I write curriculum, build after-school tutoring programs, and design effective professional development for my teachers.

As a business professional I was continually called upon to make presentations to corporate personnel, owners, propert management personnel, and other interested parties. I made these presentations interesting and informative by inserting relative humor and everyday experiences. I was often requested back. As an instructor post-secondary education I enjoyed teaching and applying humor and every day events to the learning process. As a full-time adjunct instructor I taught accounting, business administration, creative writing, ethics, and math. For four years I had a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience. I have never believed in or practiced the lecture as a form of instruction. Rather I apply a program of hands-on repetition, a "walk me through it" approach whereby the student demonstrates what has been retained and understood and where we need to apply some more time.
