I am currently pursuing a degree in secondary education with a specialization in American History. I have a passion for the subject and for helping students succeed. I just completed my practicum last fall and was active in a 10th grade World History class for about 10 hours a week. During the summer of 2011 I was employed at girl scout camp in Lake George where I planned and taught History lessons for our weekly programs. I also have worked for the Walt Disney Company, in the Magic Kingdom. While I was there, I was able to do American History trivia and tours for the Liberty Square area. I really enjoy engaging the student in discussion of the topic and helping them experience the events in History rather than just remembering dates and locations.

In that capacity I taught private performance lesson, coached chamber ensembles, conducted various ensembles. supervised and coached student teachers, performed in a faculty artist-in-residence quintet, performed solo recitals, assisted students in writing essays, resumes, and applications for positions in the teaching field or graduate studies. I also had many experiences helping students through difficult academic and personal issues. Overall, my style is fairly casual. I meet students where they are at and have a unique ability to take them to where they want to go. I try to tap into strengths and inspire students to invest in learning by identifying their interests and making connections between academic content and personal interests. I am a NYS Certified School Psychologist. I have worked in an Elementary School building for 2 years and have been working for WFL BOCES for the past 8 years with students in high school. I have experience working with students with a variety of learning needs as well as with students with significant social, emotional and behavioral difficulties.
