LESSONS SHOULD ACCOMMODATE STUDENT LEARNING STYLES

My belief is that all students have different learning styles. Therefore lessons need to be individualized to meet student needs. In order to be successful students need to be engaged by creative teachers. My teaching experience has taught me to accommodate these needs when developing lesson plans.
I have 15 years of teaching experience with special needs students in a rural school district. During this time i provided private tutoring sessions for Elementary, Middle, High School and College students. As I was once a child with a speech impediment, I received many services such as reading and writing and speech therapy throughout my elementary years. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel as though every student will have their own niche. They will have a special subject that they enjoy the most and one that they despise. I think that figuring out how the child studies for the subject they enjoy will lead to an understanding of how to motivate that student to learn the subjects that are more difficult for them. “ All kids learn, but not in the same way and not on the same day”. This quote was introduced to me during student teaching, and has constantly come up in my mind whenever working with children. I have learned that the only thing students have in common when in school is there grade level status. A teacher may teach a first grade classroom, but all of those students grasp concepts at different times, and need multiple options to master the curriculum they are exposed to.
