My comments on tutoring Russian: Along with taking elementary and intermediate college Russian courses in the USA, I lived in Russia from 1995 to 2000. While there, I studied Russian every day with a hired Russian tutor to help me speak more fluently in my interactions with my Russian neighbors and friends. I worked as a substitute ESL teacher at a women's college and also gave private English lessons to children and teenagers in small groups. My knowledge of the Russian language is accompanied by a rich acquaintance with the Russian culture, thanks to the wonderful friends I made while I was there.

In the USA, I have had 11 years of experience teaching English at the high school level and four years of experience in teaching English at the college level. I earned an M.A. in English from Marquette University. In Russia I had five years of experience in teaching college English classes and giving private English lessons to children and teenagers. After taking Russian classes at a small college, I went to Russia in 1995 and lived there until 2000, studying Russian every day with a private tutor.
