I use a comprehensive homeschool curriculum with progress monitoring reports, and my lessons are interactive and designed to meet the needs of each student. Proficiency is acquired with methodical steps.

My approach is simple: assess the student's academic weaknesses, review the strengths, then teach the new material in order to bridge the content or skill. "Scaffolding" is the best means by which to teach so that the student understands the significance of the lesson. Too often, teachers play sage-on-stage, thereby neglecting to connect what the student already knows with the new material.
