As a student I enjoyed most the teachers who facilitated learning. Teachers who lead students on a road of discovery as they learned, who taught me how to think and not what to think. I model my teaching after the same style I enjoyed as a student. Helping a student discover for themselves the material not only educates them but fosters a passion for the subject at hand. Rote memory has it's place and is essential, but when a student becomes passionate about a subject, then the door is open for them to excel at it. I teach and tutor with the goal in mind to foster that passion, that drive and to be able to carry it throughout a life of learning. I have been a foreign language teacher and tutor for 25 years (including English, reading and writing). I have taught all levels, all ages, mostly French (my mother tongue), German (my second mother tongue) Hebrew and English. I taught in private schools - 3rd to 12th grades - and in the public sector too: middle and high schools. I took teen-agers abroad, to Europe, (I was their only chaperonne) to supplement what we learned in class. I also tutor adults and children, mostly in languages. I strive to make learning the most fun and relevant as possible. I am a fervent believer of Gardner's mutiple intelligences, because I know that each person has a unique learning style, and unique interests. Most of my primary education experience involved me in music. I played the piano for 16 years, cello for 9 and self taught the violin and some other instruments. I prefer tutoring with stringed instruments. I then transitioned to sports like tennis and soccer. In college, after changing degrees a couple times, I graduated with a BS in Biology, minored in Chemistry with a Pre-Med certificate. Currently I am working on my own to sell patents with an Israeli scientist. On the side, I study Russian and Hebrew. I have private tutored almost all throughout college, mostly because I had many international friends in desperate need for English help.
