I am currently a part-time Anatomy instructor at both NWTC and UWGB where I have taught since the Fall of 2004. I have taught several types of Anatomy & Health Science classes over the past six years. I believe that applications to everyday life should be stressed if a tutor/teacher is to pique the interest of their student(s). Rather than stressing rote memorization, I believe it is more important to relate overall concepts in a "partnering" style. It is important to remember that one of the cornerstones of teaching is making the subject matter interesting and relevant to the student's experiences. I believe it is also important to focus on a student's strengths rather than their weaknesses. As in many areas of life, teaching also requires patience. I enjoy teaching and investing in children. I was credentialed as a Substitute Teacher. When I taught in public schools teachers would request me by name to teach for their classes. I believe establishing a solid personal report of respect with a student, and finding and focusing on positive characteristics, establishes a good foundation of trust and insentive for achievement for all parties involved. My good would be to provide the skills that accomplish this focus by reviewing the current status, contacting the subject teacher with proper permissions, and in-put from what the student is experiencing and how he/she feels about the educational matter.
