I began officially tutoring four years ago, starting up a private tutoring business. Through it, I have taught ages 5 through 55 in nearly all subjects, including mathematics, science, physics, ACT, and English. I also have tutored publicly at Oakland University for one year, where I earned my tutoring certification (level 1).

Many people have different teaching skills and techniques. I do not believe any technique to educate a child is better than any other technique. Each child learns differently. Understanding the fact that children learn differently is crucial. The teacher must be able to adapt to the child's learning style. As a recent college graduate, the stress, confusion, and (ultimately) joy involved in the attempt to master new subjects are fresh in my memory. While nothing can replace experience, I believe that being young provides me with an edge over those older than me when it comes to connecting with students.
