A Little Bit About Me...

As the manager and head chemist of a solid fuels testing laboratory I have many years of experience training both high school and college interns. I acquired a Bachelors of Science in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry from the University of MN, Duluth. I also have a broad math and physics background, and have a great enthusiasm for both.
I would very much like to enter the teaching world so that I might share the knowledge that I have acquired over the years. I feel I would be an excellent tutor as I would be very patient and understanding of the challenges for young students. I definitely believe we can and should be teachers for the next generation. I would strive to share my enthusiasm for math and science.

More About This Tutor...

I tend to teach things in a visual way. Drawing pictures, diagrams and using visual aides are the best ways I have witnessed to teach kids. I also think a structured reward system is HUGE in motivating kids to succeed. You need to find out what motivates your kid (money, toys, etc) and set up a system where he/she can earn these rewards through academic success.
I am currently a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. Before I started medical school I worked as a tutor for six years with two teenage boys with autism. Under the six years of my tutoring, both of these "disabled" kids were completely mainstreamed and even taking some AP and challenge classes. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is a very important part of learning; it is an ongoing process that is active and not static. My style of teaching is less conventional than most at a large university due to my liberal arts undergraduate education. I think that many students learn different ways and it is important to let the learner control the learning process. As an instructor you provide guidance and an outline for success, but that outline should be adapted to the individual.
