Along the way I have been president and chief education officer for a computer user group for over three years, I have shepherded my two children from kindergarten through four years of college each and I have tutored distance learning engineering classes for the University of Florida at Harris. Before earning my BA in Communication Sciences and Disorders I began my college career as an Education major. I completed volunteer courses in “Brevard Reads” “Rolling Readers” and completed over 150 volunteer hours in Brevard schools while in the major. In small groups we went over elementary math skills, science, social studies, and reading. During my 2009 semester I volunteered as a teaching assistant in a Montessori school for children with Dyslexia and various reading difficulties. There, we used the very successful “LiPS” program to work on reading, vocabulary, spelling, and phonemic awareness in hands on ways that targeted different learning styles.
