I have always excelled in school. My master's degree GPA is 3.8. my undergraduate degree GPA is 3.85. As a retired marine officer, I have had many opportunities to teach in a military environment. In addition, I served as the School Liaison Officer for the U. S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay School system for 3 years. During that time I also taught a college freshman English class for Troy State University aboard the base. Upon retirement, I tutored and mentored middle school students for 2 years. I also volunteered 2 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for a 3 children. This advocacy involved keeping up with school progress in special programs and assisting the kids to adapt and overcome environmental difficulties. A Little Bit About Me...

I am very passionate about helping students learn. It is my belief that each student has his/her own learning style in which they process information. I believe in the use of technology and various hands on manipulative to increase learning ability. It is my goal to help student comprehend that which is being taught and be able to enjoy their learning experience.
I have earned two masters, one in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and the other in Educational Leadership. I hold a Florida certification for ESE with English Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) endorsement. In addition to college courses I have completed College Board’s Springboard training and have successfully used it to help students increase test scores. I have taught all subject areas in middle school ESE settings for six years in a variety of classroom models.

I tailor my teaching style to the student. Throughout the years I have recognized that each student has a different way of learning and I make it my goal to adapt to them, to try to reach them in a way that is most effective for the individual. I have a strong sense of academic excellence and try to instill the core values of diligence, focus, and perseverance on each student. I also try to make learning enjoyable by providing real world examples and reasons for why we need to learn what we are required to learn.
