Eclectic, clear and fun. I know grammar very well and I can explain it clearly.
I have a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese from a well-known university in the U.S. I have about 20 years of experience teaching Spanish and Portuguese on the college level. This includes elementary and intermediate levels, conversation, composition, literature, culture, film and medical Spanish. I also enjoy tutoring younger students. I lived in Brazil and have traveled extensively all over Latin America, Spain and Portugal. I am a native speaker of English and would enjoy tutoring ESL again. I have 30+ years of experience helping students with a variety of disabilities which include language disorders. My experience encompasses Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary, Middle, High School, and post-secondary. I have helped students with ADD/ADHD, Autism/Aspergers/PDD-NOS, learning disabilities, multiple disabilities, medically fragile, language impaired and ESL (English as a Second Language).
Students learn best when they feel safe to explore and learn from past mistakes. In fact, 'mistakes' should be viewed as opportunities to improve skills and learning strategies. A Little Bit About Me...

My first teaching experience was as a high school senior where I was given the opportunity to teach a small group of 5th graders as part of the Missouri A+ program. We began with division, quickly moving into linear and nonlinear algebra, before touching on the fundamentals of complex numbers, graph theory and trigonometry, before concluding with a derivation of the quadratic formula and its applications. I spent three semesters as the academic chair for my fraternity enforcing study hours for fraternity brothers with lower GPA’s; tutoring students in algebra, calculus, physics, and computer science, among other fields.
