What has allowed me to progress to a higher level of education is that I understand what is expected in the educational system. I am successful in school because I am familiar with the manner in which subjects are taught. Through my experiences in tutoring and mentoring, I have learned different teaching techniques. I understand that not everyone learns the same way, so I try to explain the material in different manners, show visuals when applicable, and give numerous examples. I find that people do better when you explain the subject material thoroughly and give clear instructions. A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science.
I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.

A Little Bit About Me...

In 2007, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Drake University. Since then I began working as a case manager for people with disabilities. On the side of my job I have volunteered my tutoring skills to a few of my friends over the past couple years with classes like, biology, general chemistry, psychology, as well as physiology. Each person passed these classes with a B or better. With my background in science as well as working with people with disabilities for a living I believe that I can be a great tutor for any student.
