I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Illinois University. I attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Il to obtain Secondary Teaching Certification in Science. I taught Biology and Chemistry in the Rockford School District #205 at Rockford East High School for 4 years from 2002 - 2006. I taught Biology, Chemistry and Algebra at Judah Christian Jr./Sr. High School for 1 year from 2007 - 2008. I was an instructional tutor for Huntington Learning Center for 1 year from 2006 - 2007.

I'm a strong believer in the Gardner's ideas of many different learning styles and types of intelligent. Some students are better audio, tactile, or visual learners. What has allowed me to progress to a higher level of education is that I understand what is expected in the educational system. I am successful in school because I am familiar with the manner in which subjects are taught. Through my experiences in tutoring and mentoring, I have learned different teaching techniques. I understand that not everyone learns the same way, so I try to explain the material in different manners, show visuals when applicable, and give numerous examples. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree.
