My comments on tutoring Government : My college minor was International Affairs. I also interned at the U.S. Congress, both House and Senate, as a college student. My tutoring experience includes AP U.S. Government, but I can also easily assist with AP Comparative Government. I spent three summers teaching international politics to gifted middle school students.

This is my fourth year tutoring middle and high school students in History and Government. I also have professional classroom teaching experience and volunteer elementary school teaching experience. My students, primarily Global History, World History and European History students, have raised their class grades, passed the Regents exam by many points and earned high scores on the AP. I specialize in both content acquisition and essay writing skills. Some students have worked with me for half a year or more, others for a month or two before cumulative exams.
Students being tutored one-on-one deserve lessons customized to their learning style. My sessions often incorporate some writing and topic discussion along with activities tailored to the student's interests, skill development needs and preferences.

I have worked in the educational field for 25 plus years now. My first experience in the profession was in the mid-80's as a private tutor for junior high and high school students. I was also hired by my town and a neighboring town to provide homebound instruction. Subject areas I was responsible for included social sciences, American and world history, mathematics and English. Upon completion of my certification requirements I was employed at a small private school. The school specialized in assisting students with learning and developmental disabilities. During the evenings I worked in the adult education program of a local town. Subject areas I taught were civics, English as a second language and external diploma program. My school also sent me to receive training and be the representative in the "Newspapers in Education" program. I am currently employed as an adult education represen ... read more

I enjoy teaching and working with children. I believe children learn in different ways. It is incumbent on the teacher to mold his/her skills to the child's natural way of learning. I am available to help your child find academic success. My goal is to provide the best education possible. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery where the child finds the answer. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. A few good educators can make a world of difference in a child's education. My teaching style is based around differentiating instruction to meet student's individual learning style. I enjoy teaching and once I am invovled with a student I dedicate myself to learning which, teaching, studying and learning strategies are best for each individual student. I am also a believer that a tutor/teacher need to constantly research to keep up with strategies and new scientific findings thst can be introduced into lesson plans and tutoring sessions. A teacher should be dedicated and knowledgeable and should teach with a caring touch and unbiased opinions. I strive to help students during these formidable years of adolescent growth so that they can learn how to learn and carry it into a successful academic career.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love opening students' eyes to the wonders of science. It is my experience that a student can learn anything, even the most complicated scientific theories, if the teacher is patient and engaging. In teaching, I find the key to unlocking the minds of the students is to find the appropriate analogy or metaphor. If a teacher can aptly relate a concept the student doesn’t understand to one that the student does understand, not only will the student learn the new concept, they will be far less likely to forget it in the future. I find this method to be effective in teaching concepts as complicated as quantum physics, and in teaching concepts as non-intuitive as learning how to play a drum roll.
While earning my undergraduate degree in Physics, I took advantage of a work-study opportunity at Franklin and Marshall and became a Physics and Chemistry Tutor for the introductory classe ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as an in home private ABA therapist for two separate families, each with a child with autism. I worked individually with both children approximately 8-12 hours per week for over a year. I taught in a traditional ABA classroom with six students on the autism spectrum and all with other severe disabilities. I have also volunteered for many years as a bible school teacher.
I would have to say that my teaching style is flexibility. I believe that it is necessary to gauge your students as a group and individually before deciding on which teaching methods would be most effective. I believe that naturalistic teaching is important. I also believe in a form of discrete trial training. It takes some of the basics from Discrete Trial and adapts them to fit the needs of the students that are struggling with certain subjects. Research has proven that all students learn differently a ... read more

I try to be as personable as possible with students in order to make the learning experience fun and engaging. Teaching is truly an art. In order to succeed, a teacher must not only know the material cold, but he must also be able to relate to his students in order for the material to sink in.
As a Georgetown University graduate with a degree in government, I have extensive knowledge of various social sciences which I plan on taking to law school. In addition, I am a near-native speaker of Italian and am proficient in Spanish. I have a passion for both languages, and would love to be able to share that passion with students. I tutored students extensively throughout high school and currently tutor students in a variety of subjects.
