I love teaching. I care deeply for my students and their individual learning needs. I am able to combine an inviting learning environment with good disciplinary tactics. The most important thing to me is making sure each child is able to learn in a manner in which they feel comfortable. Each person's learning style is as unique as the individual themselves. So, I like to get input from the student as to how they would like lesson plans and exercises to be implemented. I don't believe that there are children who can't reach their fullest potential as long as there is a teacher who is willing to put in the extra measures that are necessary. Due to my undergraduate experiences at NCAT, I was able to develop new skills while enhancing the ones that I already possessed. While at A&T, I earned a degree in African American studies, in which I learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing graduate level research papers. I have a real passion for working with youth and their families and believe that it is a calling that can change lives. I enjoy working in collaboration with students. As a teacher, I see the student/teacher relationship as a partnership bound by communication and compassion. A teacher must listen to his/her students and try to understand the world from the student's point of view. From this foundation, a teacher is then able to present or teach material in the way a student is apt to understand it.
