A Little Bit About Me...

During my four years at Colorado State University, I tutored high school and college students in math and spanish. I also taught spanish to elementary school kids. After I graduated, I worked a part time position at Pueblo Community College as a Tutor/Lab Assistant. My most recent tutoring experience was working for Doctrina Tutoring (a San Diego, CA based tutoring company) this past school year. I tutored students from grade K to 12 in the areas of math, language arts, and spanish.
I always wanted to be a teacher, but ended up being an engineer. I enjoy teaching in general and tutoring is a way for me to practice teaching. I enjoy tutoring kids and teenagers and be a mentor for them. I'm easy going and knowledgeable of the material. I am a retired teacher, middle school, high school and district office administrator. I have worked with supplemental providers in my past position as Director of Curriculum and Instruction (Ed. Services). I presently sub for Palm Springs Unified in a k-12 capacity. I can tutor in all elementary and middle school subjects and in math through high school geometry. I am very skilled at the writing process, reading process and using effective instructional practices.
I am a hands on conceptual style learner and like to teach the same way, I believe that students that can see the "why" can understand and retain what they learn. Engaging learners by using hands on activites can facilitate the learning process.
