A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 13 years of tutor experience working with young and adult students. I have a BA in Criminal Justice this degree has helped me relate and better assist my students during our tutoring sessions. I enjoy reading and writing. In the past I have tutored students individually and in small groups of 3 to 4 to help them develop their basic reading, writing and study skills. I have also tutored young and adult students in preparation for exams like the PSAT SAT, ACT, GED, GRE and GMAT.

Teaching young people involves an understanding of the student, what they value and a desire to help them gain the ability to learn in a way that they can respect and embrace. Events must be explained in the context in which they occured. The points of view of all parties must be respected even when they are faulty. Children must be taught why and not just what... The thought process must be matured and methodical so that it can be used as a template that can be applied to a wide range of situations. I have two children and four grandchildren and understand the needs of both children and parents.

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my BS in Political Science and obtained a MBA in 2008. I am currently working on my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I tutored students in an array of subjects from 1996-2000. I also tutored and mentored children at Burke Elementary School from 2005-2008. I currently serve as the Chairperson of the Youth Directors Board at my church, which I work with the youth in various areas.
It is a joy to be able to work with children. I understand that we all learn in different ways and I like working with students to help them find which way is best for them. I am driven, determined and goal oriented. I like to tap into a child's passion and find what they are truly passionate about. We all have hidden talents that need tapping into.
